This week at the office we're celebrating Log Cabin Day! This day takes us back to a quieter, simpler, and more rugged time. And being in real estate we wanted to pay tribute to where it all began.
Log Cabin Day Celebrates what was a ‘modern’ home in America a couple hundred years ago. This was a physically more-difficult time for Americans, who often built their own homes with the help of nearby settlers. No electricity, no plumbing, and heat provided by an open fireplace. The bathroom? Look to the woods, the path is well-worn!
The fortunate thing for these folks was that every log cabin came with a huge lot and most properties had a marvelous view. Neighbors were quite far apart and HOAs were a little more easygoing back then!
Given that June is often the best vacation time of the year, many people rent out log cabins in beautiful mountainous regions across the country. Most likely these log cabins have a few upgraded amenities, but even today there is still a love for spending time in the woods in a classic log cabin.
