Last issue we talked about your crawlspace, this issue we’ll focus on things you can check in your home’s attic.
- Ensure laundry, bathroom, and range fans exit through the attic to the exterior
and are sealed at the roof to prevent water leaks — it’s especially important to check if you’ve just had your roof replaced as sometimes roofers miss this critical step - Check for stains on insulation from either condensation caused by inadequate venting or from roof leaks — around chimneys, vents, and other penetrations is a good place to check
- Look for evidence of microbial growth — spots, stains, etc — on sheeting, rafters, and under insulation
