Boise’s outdoor season is in full swing! While there are countless ways to enjoy all Boise has to offer, we recommend a park tour to really embrace our community.
Boise's North End is home to several parks that offer a mix of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and community gathering spaces. If you're looking for a fun outing, these five parks in the North End should not be missed.
Camel's Back Park
Camel's Back Park is situated in the heart of the North End, at 1200 W Heron St. As the North End's largest park, it offers views of the Boise Foothills and features a variety of amenities. The park is known for its access to an extensive trail system, which provides opportunities for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. The trails range from easy walks to more challenging routes, accommodating different skill levels. Camel's Back Park also has a spacious playground for children, tennis and volleyball courts for sports enthusiasts, and open green spaces for picnics and relaxation.
Gordon S. Bowen Park
Look for Gordon S. Bowen Park at 1013 W O'farrell St. It's a charming community park that is tucked away and ideal for a peaceful escape. This small park features two playsets, ample shade, and plenty of benches. It's off the beaten path, so parkgoers often have the whole space to themselves. Within walking distance of Hyde Park, it's the perfect spot to take the kids to wind down after a stop at the popular ice cream and candy shop, Goody's.
Elm Grove Park
Elm Grove Park is a Boise gem that should not be missed. Between 22nd and 24th, at 2200 W Irene St, this three-acre, picturesque park offers great amenities. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk on the path that winds through lush and mature greenery, set up a game of croquette in the large field, or work on their athleticism at the tennis and basketball courts. Elm Grove Park also features picnic areas for outdoor gatherings and a fantastic playground for children.
Sunset Park
Settled in the northwest part of the North End at 2625 N 32nd St, Sunset Park is a spacious park that offers a mix of recreational facilities and natural beauty. With a softball field, tennis courts, a playground, and a basketball court, the potential for activity is endless. If you're looking for a space for the pooch to get some energy out, Sunset Park is just the spot. From sunrise to 10:00 a.m. year-round, and from sunrise to sunset October 15-March 15 four acres of the ten-acre park are devoted to dog off-lease usage. All that and the playground for kids is covered, meaning less worry about park equipment getting too hot in the sun or covered with ice in winter.
Memorial Park
Memorial Park can be found at 900 N 6th St and is a quiet park that honors veterans and serves as a gathering place for the community. At seven acres, it is a notably large neighborhood park that allows visitors to spread out and find a quiet spot. The park features a sizeable playground for kids, as well as space for leisurely strolls or jogging. It also offers open green spaces, picnic areas, and benches for relaxation.
Whether you're seeking an active adventure or a tranquil escape, North End parks offer something for everyone!
