My friends, Suzi, Mihaela, and I have decided to be tourists-in-our-town by doing one thing a week that
we haven’t done before!
The first week was a two-hour Downtown Art Walking Tour sponsored by the City of Boise where we saw some of the cool art installations throughout downtown. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos!
The next week we attended the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic’s ‘Nite Glow Spectacular’ and got to see beautiful balloons light up Ann Morrison Park, eat the best grilled-cheese sandwich — it actually won an award, and watch a cool drone light show above the park. What a fun, family-friendly event to attend on a warm late-summer night!
And a few weekends ago, we attended the Boise Pride Fest’s fireworks display at the Capitol sponsored by Albertsons. Mihaela and I had front-row spots up against the barricades and stood right under the impressive display of loud and sparkly color set against the rainbow-colored capitol. What a fun celebration of social and self-acceptance and pride for our LGBTQIA+ citizens! We then did a tour with Boise Trolley Tours that Sunday — two tourism jaunts in one weekend! Suzi and I took a fully narrated 75-minute historic Boise tour that explored neighborhoods, talked about some of the city’s founding fathers and showed the homes they built, and learned some legends and lore about key events and people in our city’s history. Plus we waved and smiled as we passed by people, just like real tourists!
Have ideas for things we should do or try that we may not have? Let us know! And stay tuned for our next adventures …
