When a teacher in the West Ada School District was ordered to remove a classroom poster that read ‘Everyone is Welcome Here,’ accompanied by images of colorful hands with hearts in the palms, it just didn’t sit right with her.

The message — simple, inclusive, and kind — was deemed a ‘personal opinion’ by district leaders and not appropriate for the classroom. Her building administration and district personnel told her that ‘everyone is welcome here’ is not something that everybody believes. Instead of silently complying, this brave teacher, Sarah Inama, contacted KTVB Channel 7 and told her story.
The District’s reaction has sparked concern and alarm across our community. In response, thousands of people have purchased t-shirts, displayed posters, and written letters in solidarity with the teacher and her students. We wanted to join that show of support, so we worked with others and had yard signs made with the same message.
If you'd like an ‘Everyone is Welcome Here’ sign to display at your home or business, let us know — we're happy to share as long as supplies last!
