Free Curbside Leaf Collection Throughout Leaf Season

It's that time of year again when the City of Trees has leaves flying around!

Boise offers free curbside leaf collection throughout leaf season. Fill your green compost cart first, and if you have more leaves, you can set out up to 10 paper leaf bags each week on your regular collection day.

Be sure to put your compost cart out too and leave at least three feet between your cart and the leaf bags.

Residents are also encouraged to reuse leaves by chopping or shredding them with a lawn mower and adding them to a compost pile or using them in garden beds as mulch. This is a great way to add nutrients to the soil for next year!

A few notes:

• Leaves and yard trimmings must be in paper leaf bags if they don't fit in your compost cart
• You can set out up to 10 paper leaf bags per week
• Set your compost cart and leaf bags out by 6 a.m. on your regular trash and compost collection day
• Place leaf bags at least three feet away from your compost cart
• Garden plants and small amounts of grass are also accepted for composting
• Yard waste should not be placed in plastic bags

If all of your leaf bags aren't collected at the same time, leave them and your compost cart at the curb. Another truck may be coming to finish the collection.
